Treatments
Treatments involve a person receiving the application of one of the following modalities. These may be recommended following a consultation or can be requested or suggested independently.
Shirodhara
This ayurvedic treatment utilizes the healing properties of oil, as applied in a continuous stream on the forehead to calm the nervous system. Shirodhara treatments can balance vata conditions. The treatment is performed with organic oils matched to the ayurvedic dosha, constitution, of the individual (coconut, sesame, sunflower, herbal).
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapeutic treatments include hot and cold applications of water with packs and or compresses. This treatment modality calls forth the vital force of an individual and works to increase vitality and immunity. Hydrotherapy also aids the detoxification process and has a cleansing effect. Hydrotherapy may be recommended in acute cases of cold and flu and for acute or chronic pains or injuries.
Acupuncture
As a modality of Oriental Medicines, needles are inserted at specific points along lines in the body (meridians). The body reacts or awakens to stimulation and begins to reharmonize itself with the cosmos. This can serve to stimulate the vital force, or chi; it has long been used to alleviate symptoms from pain to allergies to addictions.
- Body - traditional application of needles to acupoints on the body.
- Scalp –has been used for post-stroke recovery, pain syndromes, sports and other injuries.
- Auricular –an addictions and detoxification treatment, including cessation of alcohol, nicotine, sugar, caffeine, opiates, and other substances and behaviors.
- Sound and Color –utilizing tuning forks and color to harmonize the meridian and organ systems—great for persons fearful of needles, infants and children, as well as those who work with color and sound (artists).
Cupping/Guashi
Cupping and Guashi treatments involve using fire suction or friction to break up stagnation (pain in Chinese medicine) trapped in a person's body. These traditional Chinese therapies can be recommended to help with chronic pain, fatigue, physical rehabilitation, acute asthma, stroke and other health problems.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion treatment involves burning artemesia in various ways depending on the imbalance found in a person. This treatment is very tonifying. During a recent World Cup soccer tournament, while other teams were laden with ice packs, the Korean team was treated through moxibustion.
Herbal Poultice
This Chinese modality involves local, topical applications to reduce stagnation via invigorating and moving herbs.
Detox/Addictions
This type of treatment schedule can help persons with addictions or in need of detoxification with desired lifestyle changes. Treatments involved may include hydrotherapy, auricular acupuncture, diet, detoxification plans and cessation plans.
Fertility Issues and Birthing
Treatment recommendations can also be tailored for persons addressing fertility and pregnancy issues. These may include acupressure assistance in birthing, natural gateways for people having babies, and acupuncture/homeopathic consultation.
